La Vie en Rose HWBH

If this is the first time joining us you will love it. It features Close to My Heart Consultants from all across Canada showing you their projects. The Hearts of the West team was founded by Nancy Klein.
This months challenge is the La Vie en Rose paper pack brought to you by Annual Inspirations.

If you came from Donna's blog- http://datsmystyledj.blogspot.ca/2015/12/hearts-of-west-21st-blog-hop-la-vie-en.htmyou're in the right place. This is a go around blog so you can start anywhere. Just in case, the full list is at the bottom of this post. Grab a beverage and enjoy the hop!

This is a one page layout using Picture My Life Overlays in black over La Vie en Rose paper.  The roses are not my favorite part of this paper pack but I did incorporate them. I used some bitty sparkles and flourishes for embellishment as well the heart button ,I think is CTMH, but not positive. I also used the red enamel gems. The numbers and letters were from my stash. I would have used the Cricut to cut them out but time is an issue so I used my stash.  I used a Design 5 page protector for my layout.
I placed all the embellishments except the flourish on the outside of the protector. I forgot what I was doing and put the flourish inside.I think it would have shown up better on the outside. And I didn't want to remove it as I didn't want to rip the paper.

Hope you enjoyed my project. If you are interested in any of the items used in my project please go to Close to My Heart and use my OBA for ordering. http://corinnamurphy.ctmh.com

This is going to be a Birthday card for a sweet little girl.
I used all CTMH products. Some retired and some new.
I used Gypsy cardstock for the card base. I took some Pear cardstock and used the dot embossing folder to emboss it. I used the kaleidoscope paper to add the next layer. I used the Pixie thick twine to wrap around the kaleidoscope and pear cardstock. I attached it to the card base with 3D foam tape.
I stamped the cupcake from an old stamp of the month, Cutie Pie, and colored it with Hydrangea and Holiday Red watercolor pencils on White Daisy cardstock. I attached it to the gypsy colored kaleidoscope that I distressed with the distressing tool.
happy birthday was stamped from the retired Chantilly cardmaking workshop and then fussy cut.The embellishments are white sequins.

This Thank you card was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest byCard Creations by Beth and is also made with the Kaleidoscope papers, and pear cardstock with gypsy ink. The sentiment is from Finding the Words(D1646). I took various pieces of the Kaleidoscope papers and folded them over the Pixie Thick Twine to make little banners. I attached the twine with glue dots. The bling is pink glitter gems.

The birthday card is also using Kaleidoscope papers with Pixie and Canary card stock. I used Pear ink for the sentiment and heart.
The sentiment is also from Finding the Words stamp set. The heart is from Love Life(D1482).
I used Pixie and Fern Thick Twine for this one and some pink glitter gems for bling.

White Pigment cards #christmascardtutorials2015

These are more cards from the Christmas tutorial that I,m part of.
I used Outdoor Denim cardstock. The background is white daisy pigment ink over Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow Stencil. The snowbanks are made with the same ink with the Simon Says Christmas Scene stencil. I moved the stencil in different positions to get the look I wanted.
I embossed the sentiment with ranger superfine ink and its from the D1656 Miracle of Christmas stamp set. The bear is from the same set.
I used the Shinhan markers to color it. I used Carmine, Mahogany, turquoise blue. I used 3D foam tape to pop the bear up.

This one is made the same way but I used Seasons Greetings  stamp set for the penguin. I fussy cut it and used the carmine marker for the scarf.

Hope you enjoyed the cards. Have a good day!

Wedding cards

I'm a little behind! Nothing new for me. Life gets in the way. I was ahead but now I'm behind. I'm sure it will happen again.
These are some wedding cards that I made. I wasn't sure if I would really like them as they are very dark but I really do and they were all used. My daughter in laws used 1 each and I used one.

The first 2 cards were inspired by a thank you card I received from a friend, The Serendipitous Stamper(very talented lady) Thanks Ellen Taylor.
So the first one is a 5.5" X 4" made from a blue toned cardstock. Most of the paper is from my stash.  I cut the patterned paper .25" smaller.  The blue paper was cut another.25". I ruffed up one corner  so the patterned paper shows through. Everything was edged on CTMH chocolate ink.
I cut a 2'  strip of dark brown paper and then layered it with the patterned paper. This was also edged with chocolate ink.I ruffled some white ribbon and attached it under the strip. This was a challenge but I did it.
The frame(retired) is stamped in twilight ink and the sentiment is from CTMH C1547- For Always cardmaking workshop in cranberry.
The butterfly isfrom the stamp set D1627, Your Own Kind of Wonderful. I fussy cut it after stamping.
Everything was distressed with chocolate ink.
The heart stamps is also from D1627.
I added a little red heart from CTMH

The second card was also made with the same papers. The only differences are the frame, which was cut from the CTMH cricut cartridge(Artbooking). It's an overlay on page 60. The sentiment is from D1539, The Happy Couple, which, I know, hard to believe, it's not retired. The bird is from C1536 which is retired and fussy cut and stamped in glacier.
The pearl, and heart is from my stash and the pin actually came off of my Thank you card. I like to reuse items if I can. The ribbon is actually CTMH seam binding that I colored with  New England Ivy ink. It was attached with tombow mono glue.

The third card is my favorite.  I used Slate cardstock cut at 5.5' X 4". I sanded the edges. The next layer is Smoky Plum which is retired. I used a momenta embossing folder and sanded over the top.
The next layer is a base of white daisy cardstock. I used slate, smoky plum and gypsy ink to do a watercolor look. I stamped the inks on my multi purpose mat and dragged the paper through the ink until I got the look I wanted. After it was dry  I stamped the flourshes from  D1482 Love Life(not retired). I used a distressing tool from CTMH to distress the edges.  The sentiment is from D1646 Finding the Words(not retired) I used versamark ink to stamp the sentiment and used Ranger superfine embossing powder to emboss. I wrapped a white ribbon with the heart charms which came from Michaels.

I hope you enjoyed the cards. If you are interested in any of the CTMH products(that are not retired please feel free to message me or go to my OBA, corinnamurphy.ctmh.com and check out all the wonderful products CTMH has to offer.
Have a great day!

Red, White & Black Christmas Card

Red, White & Black Christmas Card
#christmascardtutorials2015

Another great card that I really loved doing.
It's a 4"X 5.5" card base. I cut a separate piece of Whit Daisy cardstock .25" smaller.
The circles were made with  a 2" recollections hole punch. I marked the edges where the circles would be and stamped the snowmen inside those areas. The stamp set I used was C1506 Flakey Friends(retired)
I know I've been using a lot of retired stamp sets but I didn't have the new ones when I started this class. The stamps I use are mostly different from the ones that Justine used in her tutorials as well. I try to use what I have rather then buy all new.
I stamped the snowmen with black Mementoluxe. I then used the ShinHan markers to color the scarves and hats, branches and bird, carrots and buttons. On the the card that I punched the circles I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set.
This part was attached to the base with 3D foam tape.

Hope you enjoyed the card.
Have a great day!

Christmas gifts

I don't know about you but I spend a lot of time on Pinterest pinning EVERYTHING I like!
These are a couple of ideas that were quite easy to do and they made great gifts.

The firsrt one is inspired by one that was posted by Kay's Keepsakes.
I used a mini bottle with stopper from the dollar store. I found a Christmas message online and typed it in very small print and tucked t in the bottle with some crystal glitter. I wrapped the top of the bottle with hemp and attached some Base & Bling charms. Simple!!

These next couple that I made are inspired by one that was posted by Create & Babble.
The sentiments were cut from Vinyl with the Artbooking Cricut cartridge.
This one I added a faux branch & berries with the crystal glitter. I wrapped the top with some grey & white bakers twine with silver & red bells attached.

This one has a little tree bent over, a little deer and the glitter inside. I wrapped the top in white & gold bakers twine and attached 3 base & bling charms. This ornament was made to go on an ornament stand.

So the branch and the tree were actually pieces of an old garland that had fallen apart. I keep almost everything. You never know when you might need it.
Hope you enjoyed these ornaments.
Have a great day!!

Square Christmas card

#christmascardtutorials2015

This is another one of those great cards from the Christmas card Tutorials.
This a 4X4 card cut from White Daisy cardstock. The frame is cut from CTMH Art Philosophy
Cricut Cartridge. Took me a few tries but I did it. Will use the extras for
 another project.
The background is from an old stash and the snowman is from the same paper pack. The background snowman is part of the background paper.  The snowbank is cut from White Daisy. The little girl is from a small stamp set called Flurry of Love. I won it at a retreat. I stamped the image on White Daisy cardstock and fussy cut her out. I used my ShinHan markers to color the clothes. Carmine and Marine Blue. The sentiment came with the stamp set.
I attached the background paper to the front of the card. The snowbank is popped up with a pop dot. I attached the girl to the inside of the snowbank and the sledding snowman to the front of the snowbank.I then used CTMH 3D foam take to attach the frame.
I do enjoy making these cards. There will be more to come!
Have a great day!

Throwback Thursday Scrap book page

I've slowly started to go through my old pictures that I removed from their plastic prison. I unfortunately lost many that my mother had. Who knew that your pictures would get ruined!

This layout is of my first son, Michael and his first experience with snow! Not overly thrilled!!
I used Outdoor Denim cardstock as the base(retired). The pictures are framed in White Daisy. I edged them with Outdoor Denim ink(retired). I used retired CTMH stickers, old stickers...
I added some random blue buttons from my stash.
The Let's Play is cut from the Cricut Alphabet that came with my Cricut Machine. Outdoor Denim over White Daisy cardstock.
The snowflakes are stampin up, Martha Stewart and a snowflake brad.
I attached a CTMH red enamel gem.
Pretty simple but I like it.
Have a great day!!

Waste Not Wednesday

Waste(less)Wednesday

Remember all those treasures that you've been collecting over the years, The beautiful paper, the embellishments, buttons and baubles. I know I have LOTS!!
Waste(less) Wednesday will be about using up those items so you can find space for New Stuff!! HAHA!!

I found these stickers at the bottom of my Christmas miscellaneous stickers and embellishments.
They are an old Close to My Heart Stickease pack. The penguin is a button and the shovel is from when I used to fill eggs with scenes.
The card is very basic but I love the colors. I attached the penguin with liquid glass.
Ok, so I did a bunch of these cards with the stickers I have so I wasn't writing down where I found everything so.... I don't know where I found the sentiment. I couldn't find it among my many, many Christmas stamps.

Have a great day!

Christmas card

Happy Tuesday everyone! We had a little bit of snow today so I thought I would start adding some Christmas cards I've been working on.
I am part of a Christmas Tutorial class by Justine Hovey. This is a paid class. There are , I do believe, 40 tutorials when they are all done. I'm a bit behind but working on it. I've learned a lot of techniques. Some have worked. Some need a lot of practice and some I need the materials to do them but its fun to try new things.
You can message Justine on Facebook if you are interested and I do believe she is working on another class.
 #christmascardtutorials2015

Thank You to Justine Hovey for the great card idea.
Anyway, this is my card for today.
I do believe all the materials are Close to My Heart(CTMH) I will specify if not.
The stamp sets I used for most of the cards are from previous years so may be retired. I will indicate if they are available on my OBA.

I used Coloniale White cardstock for the card base. On a separate piece of Coloniale white that was cut slightly smaller than the card base(1/4 " smaller I do believe) I stamped with Champagne ink the sentiment from Poster Tidings(S1309) which was a stamp of the month from a previous year. I stamped it down one side and then off set it for the other side.
I cut out the banner from the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge and stamped it with a sentiment from the Frosted Cardmaking Workshop(D1562) which unfortunately is retired. I popped it up with some 3D foam tape.
The snowflakes are from punches. One that I bought at Michaels that is a Martha Stewart and the other I bought from a Kijiji sale that is a Stampin' up punch.
I added some CTMH gold sequins that were as close to neutral as I had on hand.
I do love how this card turned out. I think |I will make more.
Thank you for coming by and feel free to comment.

Marvelous Monday

Welcome to Marvelous Monday!
I'm calling it marvelous because it is dreaded by most as the beginning of the work week and sometimes we just need to put a positive spin on things sometimes.
These cards were made with love. Both my boys and their significant others bought condos downtown Calgary where they want to experience downtown life. So I tried to make cards that reflected that life.
The stamp set I used is C1563 Cityscape which is retired for the buildings. I stamped all the buildings in slate, black, gypsy, smoky plum, pacifica and fussy cut them. I picked which ones I wanted to use and saved the rest in the back of the stamp set.
The trees were cut from the Art Philosophy CTMH Cricut cartridge  with cocoa cardstock.
I did a night time sky for the first one. I attached a large piece of Outdoor Denim for the sky. I crinkled a piece of fern for the grass, slate for the sidewalk and glacier for the river. I rubbed each of the pieces with the same inks so it would give emphasis to the crinkles. I attached each piece along the bottom and sides so I could tuck in the buildings and trees. I used a yellow recollections marker to dot the background like stars. I used the stamp set Home Sweet Home which is a retired Stamp of the month. I just wanted the word Home(stamped in Outdoor denim), so I used washi tape and covered everything except home before inking and then removed the tape to stamp. The congratulations(also in outdoor denim), came from C1612 Shower Flowers which can be found in my OBA.  I left the inside blank so I could write a personal message in both cards.

The second card is the daylight card. the buildings and trees were made the same as in the first. The papers used were sky(retired), whisper for the mountains, fern for the grass, slate for the sidewalk and glacier for the river. Again I crinkled the papers. The mountains I actually spritzed so they would crinkle easier and maybe look more mountain like? The sun was stamped in canary and is also from the cityscapes stamp set. Home, is and happy place on this card were from another retired stamp set. S1403 Happy Place. I actually cut this stamp because it was easier. I added the A from an alphabet stamp set.
They were stamped in Glacier.

The cards have character, I think. I need more practice in the realistic look but overall I am quite pleased with the cards.
Hope you do as well.

Sunday funday card

 Welcome to Sunday Funday!!
This was something fun that I enjoyed doing. I made this into a wedding card.
I used  a 4"x 5.5" card base.
I purchase recollection value pack card and envelope sets from Michaels when they are on sale.
I also buy the cards and envelopes from Close to My Heart occasionally. They come in large packs of 50.
I cut a 5.25"x3.75" piece of Daisy White cardstock from Close to My Heart(CTMH). I used the CTMH All Purpose mat and rubbed some CTMH Pacifica, Indian Corn Blue and Crystal Blue inks randomly on  it. I then spritzed the ink with water and then dragged my paper through it. I did a number of them but this was the one I liked best. The paper was then left to dry or you could use a heat gun to dry it quicker so you could move on to the next step.
Next  I used the stamp set D1482 Love Life and stamped the sentiment with versamark ink. I used Ranger superfine white embossing powder to emboss it. I stamped the flourishes from the same set on the front and on the inside of the card as well with Crystal blue ink.
The pearl embellishments are from my stash probably bought at Michaels.
The inside of the card sentiment is from stamp set C1589 Lifetime of Happiness which seems to be retired.

I hope you enjoyed the card. Have a great day!

November's White Pines HWBH

Welcome to the Hearts of the West Team Blog Hop!

If this is the first time joining us you will love it. It features Close to My Heart Consultants from all across Canada showing you their projects. The Hearts of the West team was founded by Nancy Klein.

This months challenge is the White Pines paper pack brought to you by the new Holiday Expressions.

If you came from Donna's blog you're in the right place. This is a go around blog so you can start anywhere. Just in case, the full list is at the bottom of this post. Grab a beverage and enjoy the hop!

As with most of the Christmas paper packs, I love love the design and colors of this one. There are many Complements to use in all your projects and the Assortment has very cute buttons as well.

My first project is the Base and Bling faux silver circle pendants with the snowflake, jingle bell and red beads. Instead of using the holiday style sheet I used the white pines paper and punched out a 1" circle that fits perfectly. These will make a great gift for Christmas.

My next project is cards. The first one I used a white daisy base. I used cranberry ink and used a brayer on white daisy cardstock. Need a little practice in the brayering department. When it was dry I used the edge distresser around all the sides. I opened up one corner so I could add a little complement . I used the white pines complements for all the other embellishmnets as well as 3 red enamel gems to finish it off. I popped 2 of the flowers up with 3D foam tape to give it some dimension.

The second one I used a white daisy base, glacier cardstock and the white pines paper pack. I used white pines complements, silver shimmer trim and red enamel gems. The sentiment is from Festive trees hostess rewards stamp set(ask me how you can receive this very nice stamp set)

My final project is a two page layout. I used the chocolate cardstock as my base. with the white pines paper pack for coordinating colors. I used many of the Complements to embellish the pages and some white daisy cardstock as frames for some of the pictures. I used the White Pines scrapbooking stamp set and a retired CTMH cranberry marker to make the berries stand out on the " In the Air there's a feeling of Christmas" stamp. I had to fussy cut this stamp as I have not received my Artistry cricut cartridge yet. The Christmas Eve 2014 letters were cut out from the Artbooking Cricut cartridge in cranberry. I also used Fern ink for the stamps. My layout is quite busy with the crazy Christmas sweaters but I like it.

I hope you enjoyed my projects and hopefully it will give you some inspiration.

July's Blossom HWBH

Welcome to the Hearts of the West team blog hop!

If this is your first time joining us you will love it. It features Close to my hearts Consultants from all over Canada showing you their projects. The hearts of the west team was founded by Nancy Klein.
This months challenge is Blossom paper pack, brought to you by the new Seasonal Expressions, hand picked from Nancy Klein.

This is a 6X6 Birthday card for a friend. Pretty basic but I like it.

Everything I used is from Close to My Heart.
The  card is cut from Sunset that was in the paper pack. I stamped the flowers with C1612  Shower flowers stamp set and fussy cut all the big ones and the leaves. The triangles are from  the Blossom complements.
I used Indian corn blue, sunset, ponderosa pine, canary and sorbet inks. The words are from the top of one of the sheets from the blossom paper pack.
I edged the glacier blue paper with Indian Corn Blue using a sponge dauber.
I used Glue dots to attach most of the flowers and leaves and 3D foam tape to raise the blue flower up.
The inside circle was cut with the cricut at 2.5" and the word circle is from the Blossom complements.
I used Aqua dots to embellish it.
Hope you like it.

June Seaside HWBH

If this is your first time joining us you will love it. It features Close to my hearts Consultants from all over Canada showing you their projects. The hearts of the west team was founded by Nancy Klein.
This months challenge is Seaside
paper pack, brought to you by the new Annual Inspirations, hand picked by Nancy Klein.

If you came from
Kim Loewen's Blog then you're in the right place, this is a go around blog hop so you can start anywhere! Just in case, the full list will be at the bottom. So, as always, grab your coffee, tea, water, relax, and hop around the blog with us.

These cards are 6x6. Not my normal size. Everything I used is CTMH unless otherwise stated.
The Seaside paper I must say is one of my favorites!
Paper used Seaside, Desert Sand, Lagoon and Pear
Inks used are Sorbet, Desert Sand and Lagoon
Stamp sets used are Typed Note SOM,
Birthday Wishes Chantilly Cardmaking workshop, Cricut Artiste Collection and A Thing Well Done, which is a hostess reward.
I used square antique gold durables and mini black medley for embellishments. I did change the pewter brad for the dot on the i of the first card to an aqua dot. It looked better and I changed it before I put in the envelope so I didn't get a picture.
I used the sanding block and sanded all, except the pear,  cardstock. The circles were punched with recollection punches from Michaels. If I was doing many cards the same I would have used the Cricut and one of our cartridges.
The second card I put pieces of paper underneath to add some dimension and a different look. Not sure if I love the second one but I do like how the first one turned out.

Anyone interested in buying any of the supplies I used please go to my OBA corinnamurphy.ctmh.com andd have a look at all the wonderful memories you can create using Close to My Heart.
